Job Purpose Statement:

The Zone Sales Manager is considered the conduit between customer satisfaction and business development within his/her assigned territory. This is accomplished by planning, organization, concise communication skills, and executing a business plan. The Zone Sales Manager position is accountable for three major responsibilities: people, sales, and distribution expense control. Below is an outline of the three major responsibilities in detail.

Job Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age for DOT covered positions OR have a minimum of 3 years professional driving experience with a Class 'B' CDL.
  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent
  • Valid Class 'B' CDL, with airbrake endorsement OR must be willing to obtain a Class 'B' Permit/License, with airbrake endorsement within 2 weeks of hire date
  • 2 years in a successful driven business environment
  • Successful completion of post offer background checks, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle report
  • Must be proficient in Windows NT, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work early morning/late night hours
  • Willing to work over 40 hours when required
  • Willing to work any day of the week, weekends and Holidays
  • Ability to work regularly in cold environment (-20 F)
  • Ability for frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting required (up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to push and/or pull up to 2,000 lbs. using a pallet jack
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external resources
  • Demonstrated strong selling and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work safely
  • Read, write and speak English

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire and train the best potential candidates (Top 20%) for Dreyer’s/Edy's Sales Representatives and Merchandisers.
  • Practice an open door policy, maintaining confidentiality, utilizing good listening skills.
  • Prioritize the sales opportunities for all front line sales personnel.
  • Manage mileage and wage expenses.
  • Schedule and facilitate effective sales meetings using Interactive Guidelines and SEAL training.
  • Manage all personnel to company PDP and SEAL Academy standards.
  • Provide all necessary sales support and training related to automated ordering system, sales reports, sell sheets, P.O.S., and other sales related materials.
  • Develop and promote a safe work environment.
  • Direct company safety initiatives to minimize injury, loss work time and loss profitability.
  • Provide face-to-face communication within the Grooves environment utilizing the key principles.
  • Practice the Grooves culture and provide your team a grooves based environment.
  • Develop and implement the appropriate sales programs and tools designed to grow account base and increase revenue in existing customers.
  • Develop route sales goals and objectives.
  • Identify account development opportunities related to the four building blocks: space, promotions, distribution, and merchandising.
  • Know the competitor: Products, competitive activity, distribution alliances, and weaknesses.
  • Develop relationship with Store Managers through effective communication.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for store conditions, Plan-O-Gram integrity, and flavor to tag requirements, flavor assortment, back stock guidelines and display execution.
  • Responsible for directing route engineering and performance, service schedule, and frequency.
  • Responsible for setting, monitoring, and insuring that appropriate customer service levels are maintained.
  • Accurate forecasting for promotional needs and merchandising support.
  • Coordinate reset activity, new store set ups and expanding distribution through out territory; participation of store resets may be required.
