Position Objective The VP National Sales guides a team of Sales Managers and field-based and inside sales representatives who sell Tyler software primarily to Government and not-for-profit entities. The primary objective of the sales group is to meet and exceed revenue expectations by prospecting and selling to new customers, growing existing customers and providing solutions to all customers through a consultative sales process. The VP National Sales serves as a key member of the leadership team and is expected to build effective relationships within his or her team, but also across the Local Government Division (LGD). Responsibilities Continuously provide sales training to upgrade industry knowledge, product knowledge and sales skills within our team. Create, present and deliver reports and analyses to Senior Management as requested; Develop a broad understanding of key competition and articulate how Tyler can maintain a competitive advantage through effective planning. Develop and execute report to capture key sales productivity measures to include level of activity, pipeline volumes and close ratios. Develop and execute yearly budget, yearly sales incentive plans (working in concert with HR Director), yearly marketing plans (working in concert with Marketing) and yearly Sales Plan; Direct entire Sales business unit/area, setting reasonable, achievable, but stretch expectations, with responsibility for resource allocation, including budget and personnel; Directly supervise and manage senior Sales Managers, maximizing retention and insuring optimal performance of Sales area; Establish additional industry contacts and relationships for opportunities to improve revenue performance. Qualifications Expert knowledge, and successful and extensive experience in, of leadership/management theory and practice with at least 3 years experience leading/directing/managing multiple national sales teams. Expert knowledge of the field with at least 10 years software sales experience. Excellent ability to work with a cross functional team. Exceptional relationship builder with unwavering positive attitude and a good appropriate sense of humor. Extensive experience with corporate team activities including cooperative development of successful programs executed by field sales. Knowledge of government procurement process as it relates to sales of software products. High energy individual with a desire to excel. Ideal candidate has at least 5 years experience working in and/or with local government and/or the public sector. Outstanding sales communication skills. Myopic customer focus. Successful experience in driving programs designed to transition customer bases to new product platforms. Travel is required and at times may be required over 50% of the time. Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in business, communication or closely related field; Masters degree preferred.
