Area Sales Manager
We are currently seeking a talented Area Sales Manager to join our team. The Area Sales Manager will lead, coach, and support several field sales executives within a specific geographic area. She/He will support the field sales executive role to promote and sell services to meet sales targets and generate revenue. They will support the field sales executives to maintain a high-level of customer service with existing customers and help to leverage relationships to expand business. This role involves meeting sales revenue objectives through the management of skills and efforts of the field sales executives. This role will also entail direct or indirect sales management by coaching and developing direct reports skill set to ensure sales metrics are achieved.
Responsibilities: Plans and directs field sales operations through a group of field sales executives Oversees sales revenue generation, profit and/or expense objectives in geographic territory Develops sales plans and budgets for achieving sales goals within a defined geographic territory Assists field sales executives in securing critical sales Supervises approximately 6-8 field sales executives; responsible for coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff Assigns work, sets completion dates, and reviews work in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes Will be responsible for monitoring field sales executives utilization of pipeline forecast and ensuring that business from new and existing customers is successfully negotiated in a timely manner This individual is responsible for the field sales executives sales activity, as well as coaching, mentoring, and developing the sales executives skills to ensure successful sales results Ongoing role plays and mentoring is essential in this role This role is field based and requires daily interaction with field sales executives assisting with customer appointments; both new business and retention calls Will involve extensive travel in support of the sales executives team, current customer base and acquisition of new revenue opportunities Regular interface with area sales leadership to ensure consistent planning and application of sales initiatives, strategic planning along with other area wide sales related applications.
Skills & Qualifications: Has extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas A thorough understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered BA/BS Degree with strong GPA (preferably 3.0 or higher) Minimum 5 years of sales supervisor/management experience Strong negotiation and communication skills (verbal and written) Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories Viewed as expert in functional or business area Deals with cross-cultural tactical issues Leadership and achievement in academic, professional, and/or military environments Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and experience with, and use of a CRM system is preferred) Successful academic and professional track record Transportation sales industry and International experience is preferred Professional certification required in some areas
