The Talbots Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager or General Manager in creating a store environment which provides a superior sales and customer experience; executing visual merchandising direction; and recruiting, developing and retaining a strong selling team. Principal Accountabilities Drive sales growth, profitability and productivity by achieving sales and service metrics in key measureable areas. Demonstrate operational compliance and financial responsibility through achievement of shortage and payroll goals. Lead by example and ensure exceptional selling interactions that guarantee meaningful experiences and build brand relationships. Use Company resources and personal leadership to ensure a strong store selling environment by holding associates accountable for meeting sales and service goals. Support and build store cliental and the acquisition of new customer contacts. Service multiple customers and demonstrate ability to multi-task store projects simultaneously. Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and supervisory skills by providing coaching and feedback to maximize individual and store performance. Identify and hire talent that is reflective of the Talbots brand. Provide direction to associates, appropriately delegate tasks, and support new associate on-boarding. Ensure store demonstrates excellence in representing the Talbots brand through visual presentation. Ensure timely and proper execution of all corporate driven marketing efforts and use of collateral. Requirements Minimum of High School Degree A minimum of 2+ years of specialty retailing management experience with emphasis on selling. Strong selling experience required and demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance standards. Leadership skills, integrity and enthusiasm to motivate store associates to total store achievement. Strong drive, ambition, and passion for selling and for the overall store business success. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, every-changing environment. Must be outgoing and assertive with the ability to make decisions independently. Ability to work a flexible scheduled based on the needs of the business including opening/closing shifts as well as weekends, holidays and nights. Ability to move about in a store including climbing ladders and the ability to lift up to 20-25 pounds. Ability to navigate computer systems with intermediate computer and keyboarding skills.
