Summary of Responsibilities:
Direct the development and execution of new market and distribution opportunities, especially Association and Affinity, to create short and long term strategic growth potential for MetLife Auto & Home, benefiting both MetLife Auto & Home and the Enterprise. Principal Responsibilities:
• Development: Explore, analyze, define, recommend, and test new markets and channels.
• Targets: Non-employer, sponsored sales opportunities such as Associations, PEO’s, and Affinity. In conjunction with Sales and Marketing, employ a variety of targeted marketing, face-to-face and onsite strategies, and other event marketing to increase accounts, eligibles and policy sales.
• Positioning: Determine points of entry, timelines, etc. to ensure strategic fit. Analyze, partner and communicate effectively to illustrate the opportunity in a manner that will compel and motivate all to rally around the effort. Create an environment where testing new concepts is expected and embraced. Engage with Institutional partners to assess and target common opportunities.
• Launch: Coordinate testing and execution of new strategies. Direct partners throughout enterprise to ensure preparedness, engagement, and performance. Orchestrate timing and delivery of communication and project plans to assure maximum effectiveness.
• Implementation: Aggressively manage the project plan to assure desired sales results. When programs are successful, transfer ongoing management responsibility to appropriate areas in a smooth and effective manner to assure ongoing success. When programs are not successful, implement preplanned exit strategies.
• Tracking & Reporting: Define critical financial, sales, service and other metrics and reporting requirements. Direct Sales Reporting, financial management, IT, etc. to accurately measure ongoing progress. Ensure understanding of success metrics and possible exit strategies.
• Communication Standards: Define and maintain reporting templates and provide regular analysis and communication to partners and senior management.
Job Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:
- Experience in and understanding of the sponsored, voluntary
- Benefit marketplace, with particular focus on non-employer groups.
- Demonstrated ability to identify challenges and opportunities in a sales environment, think creatively and create solutions.
- Experience in a variety of direct marketing and segmentation skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities, proven experience with developing effective, written business plans.
- Must have strong relationship skills, maturity, and good judgment.
- Excellent ability to communicate and partner with a diverse range of individuals at multiple levels of the organization and to influence without authority.
- Excellent project management skills, from inception through to execution.
- Customer focused and business oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify, resolve and follow up on issues.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to establish priorities and handle multiple assignments concurrently with minimal direction in a dynamic work environment.
- Prior Sales, sales or strategic planning, and financial experience preferred.
• Direct Emerging Markets to be integral in contributing to MetLife Auto & Home’s overall objectives of growing to $5B in premium by 2015. Achieve Association Revenue and ROI goals of $500M and 15%, respectively, within 10 years. MetLife Group A&H represents only 1% of the $3B+ Association / Affinity Market. Each percentage point increase in market share = $30M+ in premium. MetLife Group Auto &Home represents 40+% of the $2.1 billion Employer Sponsored Market.
• Significantly contribute to Group Auto & Home’s strategic sales plan to double in size by 2015, and maintain our leadership position in the employer sponsored space.
