Our client is an established, profitable manufacturer of leading edge scientific products used in clinical diagnostics and research, and for twenty years they’ve been developing breakthrough technologies that that allow our customers to improve quality of life.
They enjoy an 80% market share in the molecular diagnostics segments of the infectious disease market in the US, and have made a decision to expand their business globally. Their growth has also allowed them to create new Key Account sales territories and they now have new openings in the Midwest and Northeast Regions of the US, among others. With several high profile product launches planned over the next two years, this could be the opportunity for you.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In this high-profile, technically oriented role you will call on targeted accounts in the clinical diagnostics and blood screening markets in a fairly large geography. This is capital equipment sales where you will be representing a line of sensitive diagnostic instruments that utilize nucleic acid base tests to screen for various infectious diseases. The accounts are large, the contracts and sales cycles are long, and the dollars are big, so we need a sales professional who is ready for this type of challenge.
In addition to current customer maintenance and new account development, you will also be asked to develop relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in the infectious disease and microbiology community, to develop them as advocates for your technology. You will create an annual Business Plan for your assigned territory, develop sales forecasts, and manage inventory. Overnight travel is estimated at 40%.
This is a creative, technical position that combines the need for a strong scientific background and excellent sales and interpersonal skills. Because of the deep product pipeline and growth rate, if you have a strong business acumen you will have the opportunity to develop and advance into positions of greater responsibility in the near future.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
· A Bachelor’s degree or better in the Life Sciences, Business or related field
· 3+ years of sales experience in the Diagnostic or Medical Technology industry that includes some experience with capital equipment or high dollar instruments.
· Evidence and documentation of sales success
· Ambition, high energy and self-motivation
