DIRECTOR,

Location: Westlake Village, CA, United States

Reporting directly to the VP of , we are seeking an experienced digital and direct marketer to develop and manage a customized strategy for optimizing the brand’s presence on the Web, driving commercial traffic to both the e-Commerce site and the physical retail locations using digital, social media and direct marketing tactics.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Increase sales and profits for through effective collaboration with merchandising, marketing, user experience and related groups
  • Utilize website functionality to drive sales in Guitar Center retail locations, working cross-functionally across all channels
  • Develop and implement the brand strategy for , making the visitors’ Web and Store experience exciting and engaging
  • Accountability for sales, traffic, conversion and ROI on advertising expenditures
  • Managing and building a best-in-class e-Commerce and Digital Marketing team that drives Guitar Center’s brand presence on the Web
  • Creating a “come alive” experience on the Web and in the stores via Price Portal, Gear Finder, etc.
  • Develop strategies and define requirements related to digital initiatives in cooperation with User Experience, Multi-Channel, Advertising, Marketing, Merchandising and Direct Brands
  • Driving profitable growth of Guitar Center’s e-Commerce and Retail businesses primarily through new customer acquisition and utilizing multi-channel marketing best practices
  • Communicating with User Experience, Marketing, Merchandising, Sales and Strategic Planning Group (SPG) teams to ensure all projects are planned properly and post mortems are held for continuous quality improvement
  • Effective communication across all levels of Marketing, Merchandising, and SPG groups
  • Manage agencies and technical service-providers involved in the delivery of digital initiatives
  • Prioritizing competing opportunities, balancing market needs with business priorities, managing conflict and articulating the rationale behind decisions
  • Monitoring and controlling scope, risk, issues and dependencies
  • Escalating project issues up through the VP of as required
  • Measuring and reporting on various KPIs and the overall health of Guitar Center’s Web presence
  • Accountable for the overall program / project success
  • Deliver programs (and/or multiple projects) on time and within budget
  • Periodic reporting to senior leadership and other stakeholders

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to think analytically and quickly recognize improvements to channels while weighing acquisition costs, ROI and/or lifetime value of customers acquired
  • Possess a bottom-line focus, able to balance strategy and attention to detail
  • Successful track record of capturing new customers though user experience focus
  • Possess strong people skills, respectfully influencing key stakeholders across all levels of the organization regardless of reporting structure
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Standard project management methodology expertise
  • Experience effectively managing project scope and budget
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong aptitude for Retail and the Music Instrument business

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with a degree in Business Management, Advertising or related field preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • 3 years of retail/multi-channel industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a director of marketing in digital channels.
  • 2+ years in display advertising, organic and paid search
  • Must have demonstrated success in a project lead role
  • Technical competencies including expertise in Site Usability, Site Testing, Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, E-mail Marketing, Direct Marketing, Mobile Marketing, Social Media Optimization, Display Advertising, Affiliate Marketing, Retargeting, e-Commerce, and Multi-Channel Merchandising
