The Director of Product Management-Assessment will manage the production process for Wireless Generation instruction products. This person will work closely with several different departments including marketing, sales, account management and product development to ensure product success.
Responsibilities of the Director of Product Management - Assessment:
Manages products from concept to retirement, including strategy, planning, product ideation/design, development, launch, marketing, production, enhancements, and retirement
Brainstorms innovative new product concepts and enhancements
Forms and communicates the product vision and value proposition
Creates and gains approval for the product business plan
Assembles and manages a cross-functional product team including design, development, project management, service, and marketing
Manages the product team through the Wireless Generation product development processes to ensure introduction of the product to market on time and on budget
Leverages internal and external research capabilities to create new IP as a foundation for product
Identifies and prioritizes product requirements
Directs and reviews product design work
Becomes a subject matter expert in the relevant product domains
Works with customers and with sales, marketing, account management, and outside third-party partners to identify and analyze market opportunities and evaluate competitive offerings
Accompanies sales people as subject matter expert to present products to key customers
Works with marketing to define the marketing strategy, position the product, determine product pricing and bundling, etc.
Directs marketing tactics and assists marketing by, for instance, presenting at trade shows, co-authoring white papers, etc.
Ensures profitability of products to established business plan goals
Works with business development to secure and manage third-party relationships profitably and to resolve any problems quickly
Tracks industry trends and networks with key influencers
Evangelizes and educates internal and external audiences
Ensures an appropriate level of quality in the product delivered to customers
May manage the quotation, development, and delivery of custom products
Contributes subject matter expertise to proposals, including alignment of products to state standards and the objectives of state/district strategic initiatives
Requirements of the Director of Product Management - Assessment:
Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree
Background in education
Experience in K – 12 instructional product delivery
Appreciation of technical and data infrastructure and the software development lifecycle
Ability to present clearly to a multi-functional group
Appreciation of excellent product design
Strong ability to think strategically
