Director, Smart Energy Services
This position will be a leadership position within the Residential function and will focus on:
Establishing and delivering smart energy strategy and solutions for NRG SimplySmart and the internal and external clients (REPs and other NRG retail companies)
Networking and establishing relationships with smart energy experts across the nation (and forecasted projections globally)
Improving performance of smart energy solutions with creative process improvements and automation
Represent NRG SimplySmart and its internal and external clients in local and national forums
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the effort to define smart energy strategy and execution for NRG SimplySmart’s internal and external clients
Utilize his/her established network of utility, muni, co-op and technology vendors to strengthen NRG SimplySmart Solutions Smart Grid service awareness
Generate leads and work with sales team to deliver proposals to sell NRG SimplySmart’s products and services
Partner with sales team to define “Go To Market” strategy for smart grid services with internal and external NRG SimplySmart customers
Leverage assets of the NRG brand to identify co-Marketing Programs that extend the lifecycle of existing customers
Contact and engage prospective strategic alliance partners, and develop a relationship of trust and common ground, that leads to idea generation, testing and qualification (proof of concept), and ultimately, expansion
Meet with prospects and understand their business needs and match prospect business needs with NRG SimplySmart capabilities
Collaboratively work with internal stakeholders to define effective customer solutions to meet business needs
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university required.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years combined experience in project management, consulting, smart energy, technology, insurance and/or communications with focus on consumer facing solutions.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Activities:
Deep expertise in smart energy solutions and technologies
Track record of commitment, delivery of products and services that create value
Have a well established network in the utilities industry and aggressively work to expand that network
Skilled at working cross-functionally to leverage the skills and potential of the entire team on particularly complex initiatives
Ability to quickly identify pain points of a customer and work with a team to create a customized proposal to address those immediate needs
Ability to lead a team of highly motivated smart energy experts
Demonstrated aptitude for working with partners towards business-building results
Significant experience using qualitative/quantitative research/insights
Proficient with PowerPoint and Excel
A ‘Get-it-done’ attitude combined with a team-player work style – humble and ready to give others credit and recognition
Working Conditions:
Overnight periodic travel will be necessary
Open office environment
