Director, Strategic Planning and Analysis (Commercial)
Responsible for corporate level strategy and development which includes strategic planning, competitive intelligence, and portfolio management, as well as ad hoc analysis for Cox Communications’ Commercial Business Segment (Cox Business).
Position Responsibilities
Provides leadership in the development and governance of Cox’s strategic planning and resource allocation processes, which drive corporate level portfolio decisions, as well as cascading business segment, department and functional plans.
Leads the assessment and valuation of new business opportunities and potential threats to sustainability of current Commercial business plans, including competition.
Conducts market and competitor research to identify possible threats and opportunities, with a focus on impacts within Cox’s long-term planning horizon.
Conducts online database searches for competitor profiles and information.
Continuously monitors the Cox Business competitive environment and prepares reports for management to assist in making tactical and strategic business decisions.
Assists sales and marketing teams in the effective use of information for the purpose of developing the organization's own competitive standing.
Collaborates with industry peers, partners, suppliers, and key organizations to understand, influence, and communicate trends and requirements in our Commercial products and services.
Discovers and investigates emerging technologies and services for fit and value creation within the Cox Business portfolio.
Leads evaluation, consensus-building, decision-making and implementation of Cox Business' strategies on specific industry issues, policies, emerging technologies, platform and convergence decisions, intellectual property rights and special projects.
Collaborates with a cross-functional team including the field, finance, legal, engineering, marketing, operations, IT, and others to develop a consensus around and support for Cox Business.
Qualifications
BS/BA and MBA required. MBA from Top 20 MBA School strongly preferred.
10+ years professional work experience.
Must have experience working for a business focused service provider.
Technology, Media and Telecommunications industry experience strongly preferred
Minimum 3 years of strategy consulting with top tier firm or industry corporate strategy experience strongly preferred
Technical/Engineering background a plus
Ability to work independently and resolve issues with minimal direction
Knowledge and experience with strategic analysis frameworks and tools
Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and presentation skills
Strong research, writing and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization and functional areas.
Demonstrated ability to manage detailed and complex information in a rapidly changing environment
Significant attention to detail and follow-up.
