Part Time - Sales Representative (Sports Marketing/Sales)

You probably want to be the president of a team someday. That's good; you're on the right site. If you don't, you shouldn't waste your time reading the rest of this job description.

THREE OUT OF FOUR DOESN'T WORK

We figure that you don't have the skill set to be a president right now. However, if president is your target, you need to answer 'yes' to each one of the three questions listed at the very bottom of this posting.

If you say 'yes' to the first three questions, you're on the right track. However, to get a 'yes' on the fourth question, you are going to have to do some homework. Talk to teams about the real training that they give. Tossing you the Yellow Pages doesn't count as feel that to become a president with teams, you need to first know what we know: It all starts with tickets. Tickets are the lifeblood of sports. Once you learn tickets-truly learn how to sell and market tickets-you're on your way to running a team.

We start our people on our lifeblood-remember, that's tickets. No Yellow Pages tossing for us. Our philosophy is train, train, train, and when we get tired of that, we train some more. Our goal is to accelerate your growth as fast as you will allow us to. You see, we want you to get better quicker for what you can contribute in Oklahoma City and perhaps with our other teams.

WHAT'S YOUR PATH?

We own or operate five minor league baseball teams. All are affiliated with Major League teams. We would like to populate management positions in those teams with people that have learned our ticket marketing methods. We'll train you, we'll encourage you to become successful, and then we'll look for you to do the same with recruits at our other teams. If you come to work for Mandalay in tickets and do well, you'll have a chance to grow within our organization, much faster than you would anywhere else. Do well and you could be managing your own staff within a few years.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Tickets, remember, its tickets. You'd be a salesperson making sales calls to groups within different categories selling our different group products including seats in the stands and hospitality. We don't expect that you'll know how to sell our different ticket packages, so we provide extensive training. We'll teach you how to make the initial call and how to help select the best ticket package for that particular prospect. We'll also allow you to explore other areas of the organization with some operational and administrative tasks, but about 99% of your time will be spent selling tickets. You'll be working ticket sales in minor league baseball. This means long hours during the work week and being available for all necessary events.

WHO DOES THE TRAINING?

Training is done in house. We'll start you off with a week long boot camp giving you all the information you need to be successful. Don't worry-we're not going to just hand you a "how to sell tickets" manual and expect you to study it. The training is interactive so you're learning and applying at the same time. We have a trained staff on hand, plus you'll get the chance to meet some of the Mandalay executives that have been a success in the sports industry for years. After boot camp, you'll have a pool of high level executives such as our team's general manager, president and vice president of ticket sales, in addition to a staff of experienced sales reps to learn from.

QUALIFICATIONS

Did you answer yes to the first three questions at the very bottom of this posting? If you do, we can answer the fourth question for you. Yes, you will get unsurpassed training that will be giant steps in reaching your career goal. We strongly prefer graduate students, but if you're an undergrad, recent grad or other and you're the next budding superstar we would be happy to consider you for this position.

HOW MUCH WILL YOU MAKE?

You'll make a monthly stipend plus commissions. You will also enter our hiring pipeline so if a full-time position becomes available with the RedHawks, or any of our other teams, you will be in the running.
