On May 1, 2010, Ameriprise Financial closed on the transaction to acquire the long-term asset management business of Columbia Management from the Bank of America. Responsibilities
Columbia Management is looking for an Internal Investment-Only Regional Sales Director (RSD) to promote Columbia Management's mutual funds across 3rd party retirement plan platforms. The Investment Only RSD is a business professional with strong relationship building skills, product knowledge and sales experience. In this role, you will partner with an external wholesaler to drive mutual fund sales through DCIO intermediaries. This position is based in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities Make proactive telephone calls to an assigned territory; Answer and convert inbound calls from the territory into additional opportunities to drive sales. Drive sales by developing, maintaining, and deepening relationships with new and existing financial FAs (Financial Advisors); influence FAs choices using a consultative sales process and other performance improvement systems (ex. Fusion, Quality Sales Call, etc.) Maintain strong relationships with top DC producing intermediaries in the territory. Identify and develop productive relationships with distribution partners field sales force. Educate, train and partner with Columbia retail wholesalers on retirement related initiatives. Develop and maintain a database of DC intermediaries opportunities and prospective clients. Sell/market investment-only solutions and provide value added programs to our valued partners, clients and prospects. Partner with RVP to develop a business plan, manage a territory, and drive to regional goals and objectives. Maintain and leverage a deep understanding of all accounts/distributors, including specific rules of engagement for distributors. Demonstrate an understanding of the product portfolio features and benefits; Sells solutions provided by the products. Research and communicate industry changes and trends that may impact company or product positioning, with both internal and external customers. Complete required coursework in order to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and licensure.
Qualifications
3+ years experience in financial services industry, financial sales or financial wholesaling. Series 7, 66 required Proven ability to build strong relationships. Strong knowledge of competitive landscape within the retirement industry Strong team player Proven consultative selling skills Effective communication skills including a history of public speaking Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
