Responsibilities
The Regional Vice President is a field based external wholesaler position that generates and maintains sales of separate accounts and mutual funds for major wirehouse firms, banks and independents. The RVP will perform as part of a team which includes an internal wholesaler (Regional Sales Director - RSD), with a primary responsibility of driving Columbia Management product sales.
Territory coverage includes: Northern CA
Main Job Duties/Responsibilities Drive sales by developing, maintaining, and deepening relationships with new and existing advisors; influences advisor choices using a consultative sales process and other performance improvement systems (ex. Fusion, Quality Sales Call, etc.) Identifies client needs and provides investment and business solutions to the financial advisor. Conducts sales or product training meetings and public seminars for financial advisors. Makes joint sales presentations to existing and prospective clients. Partners with internal wholesaler to develop a business plan, manage the territory, and drive regional sales goals and objectives Demonstrate an understanding of Columbia Management products, including features and benefits; sells solutions provided by Columbia Management to solve advisor needs Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external business partners (marketing, senior leaders, field leaders) Consults in the areas of portfolio building and practice management. Travel within territory to conduct one-on-one advisor sales calls, conduct client events, and to deliver group presentations, including continuing education/training Manage and develop systems to create efficiencies (scheduling/rotations, meeting preparation & follow-up, recognizing advisor sales, budget management, etc.) Prioritize and manage daily, weekly, and monthly workload Complete required coursework in order to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and licensure
Qualifications
5+ years of industry experience in mutual funds and separate accounts 3+ years of demonstrated wholesaling experience directly selling to financial advisors with proven track record FINRA registrations, series 7 and 66 required within specified time frames. Ability to travel (75 80%) Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree (MBA) and or CIMA or CFP desired Experience working with consultative sales process Excellent interpersonal, presentation and problem solving skills In depth working knowledge and experience with mutual funds and separate accounts. Strong presentation and sales skills. Self driven - able to manage territory budget and to operate autonomously. Separate managed accounts experience required. Established relationships in the financial institution community. Significant travel required, some weekend meetings. Participation on all scheduled conferences in and out of the territory.
