Job Summary

The Solutions Design and Implementation Specialist provides customized engineering, technology, finance, and supply chain solutions for UPS customers to enhance their transportation systems. This position generates non-package revenues, as well as revenue for Small Package, Freight and SCS. He/she analyzes customer information and requirements to determine solutions that will help them deliver products to their customers more efficiently, and assists in project scope development to ensure effective delivery of customer solutions. This position supports Solutions Engagement Resources (SERs) to help grow the customer solutions business and keeps up-to-date on industry trends and technology developments.

A primary goal of this position is to develop and implement solutions that help customers improve performance in distributing and transporting their products. Duties include evaluating and configuring solutions to resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction, implementing solutions, and providing required training so solutions are successfully incorporated into the customer’s business. This position is also responsible for analyzing and defining project requirements. To do this, the Solutions Design and Implementation Specialist reviews customer requirements, gathers and analyzes data, and interviews customers to determine their needs and identify possible solutions. He/she also creates work orders, assists the project manager in scope development, setting task priorities, and preparing project cost worksheets. This individual also helps the project manager present recommended solutions to customers outlining final deliverables, cost justification, and added value.

Other Duties  

• Obtain feedback from customers to ensure solutions meet their needs
• Monitor and support deployed solutions to ensure solutions are maintained and continue to operate effectively
• Assist SERs in clarifying customer solution project goals
• Provide subject matter expertise to increase Customer Solutions knowledge and understanding 
• Keep customer solution project stakeholders informed of project progress

• Writes technical or specialized documents, such as legal briefings, journals, manuals, instructions, articles, handbooks, and statistical reports
