Team Overview:
For anyone who gets a rush from working with, and in many ways shaping, tomorrow's technology, the Technology Marketing team at NRC is the playground you've been seeking. This is not about speeds-and-feeds product marketing. This is VISION marketing where you will extract ideas and projects from blue-sky research labs and articulate the work and its nting a picture for how the world will be a more amazing place as a result. We then project this vision globally, across a myriad of channels, helping to form the direction and dialogue of a multi-billion dollar industry. NRC Technology Marketing is a global organization, with team members in Palo Alto, Helsinki and Beijing. The global marketing head sits in Palo Alto, co-located with the worldwide head of NRC who paints the vision and direction for all 13 locations.
Role Description:
The Strategic Technology Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and supporting internally and externally-focused executive communications and marketing programs with the goal of evangelizing awareness and understanding of the company's technology vision, thought leadership and strategy. You will take ownership for the development of executive speeches, talking points and content for other channels (web, white papers, etc.) for the CTO organization. Additionally, you will be responsible for working directly with the head of Nokia Research, as well as Nokia's CTO, to analyze Nokia's portfolio, and craft messaging for both internally and externally-focused executive communications and marketing programs. The end goal is to evangelize awareness and understanding of the company's technology vision, thought leadership and strategy. In addition, the person in this role will be responsible for developing relationships within senior research and strategy management teams at Nokia to ensure engaging messages are published by Nokia that drive the technology agenda forward across the industry.
Scope:
Individual Contributor - Can aggregate, analyze, and articulate concepts and solutions as the communications owner. Increased awareness of and involvement outside of own subject area, heavily leveraging subject matter experts throughout Nokia. Distils big picture into articulate, compelling stories. Makes decisions about and prioritizes own work. - Ensures existing plans are put into operation. Acts with independence and discretion. Develops appropriate solutions. This position will proactively work with other functions within Nokia's Corporate Development Office, including Corporate Strategy and Communications. He or she will be expected to identify platforms and other opportunities for executive keynotes and networking opportunities.
In order to be successful in this high profile role, you must have superior written and oral communication skills, a broad-based education and an interest in as many subjects as possible. The ideal candidate will be an avid reader, a confirmed technogeek, and have had direct public speaking and presentation experience. Finally, to blend well with the team, you should exude contagious energy, and a great sense of humor!
Responsibilities
* Craft story lines, write and edit speeches, talking points and other communications material for the CTO. * Assist in the identification of new technology areas, and their associated impact to individuals, industry and Nokia. * Be the local source of information regarding what is happening in the technology arena in other companies globally that could have a collaborative or competitive impact on the overall direction of Nokia. * Act as liaison to both strategy and product groups across Nokia to ensure tight integration of outbound messaging. * Work collaboratively to identify captivating ways of communicating key concepts through graphic visualizations. * Anticipate internal and external business issues and developments within the industry; use knowledge to focus work and drive improvements
Qualifications

Proven ability to craft story lines, write and edit speeches, talking points and other communications material for the CTO.
* Ability to identify new technology areas, and their associated impact to individuals, the industry and Nokia. * Advanced, hands-on skills in creating high-impact presentations (Powerpoint and Keynote are a must) * Experience engaging directly with, and influencing C-level executives * Proven track record of working with in-house graphics resources and/or creative agencies to convert vision to reality * Demonstrated ability to build a reliable network of contacts and to cultivate relationships across cultural and geographical distances to help achieve fast and exemplary results * Minimum of 7 years experience in technical marketing * Technical/Engineering Degree, with either an MBA in Marketing/Communications or an MS in English/Communications. * Proven project management skills, preferably creating and executing major communications plans (examples of executive speeches, product launches, media strategies) * Direct experience working in and around Silicon Valley technology culture. (Existing Silicon Valley network a plus)
