This role provides direct support to the Sales Organization through pre-sales technical consulting of complex solutions and PAETEC products. Assisting sales with technical presentations to customers on all company voice & data circuit-based products. Verifies the technical configuration is correct on circuit-based orders prior to them being submitted to Customer Order Processing team. Work and communicate with customers, vendors and internal PAETEC teams on cutover scheduling and technical order quality. Responsible for cutover of all contracted services and 100% accountable for cutover success and customer satisfaction of services implemented. Act as project manager and primary customer/vendor point of contact on large/complex MPLS/VOIP multi-location orders involving multiple PAETEC SEs. Must be highly proficient at discussing, white boarding, processing and implementing all circuit based products that are supported by the PAETEC SE1-3 team. Responsible for the mentoring and professional development of the SE I/2 staff on their SE team.
Requires advanced knowledge in the pre-sale design of DS1-OCx level voice & data solutions to include: DAL, Internet access, private line, integrated access solutions, MPLS VPN, Firewall/Network Security solutions, DNS, Collocation, and VoIP services. Working knowledge of network transport routing protocols and hardware. Knowledge of the OSI model, specifically including Ethernet, MLPPP, MLFR, IP, TCP, UDP, etc. Working knowledge of fiber builds and network construction requirements. Presentation experience which includes presentations to C-Level Executive Staff (CEO, CIO, CFO, etc). Strong VoIP knowledge is required. Working knowledge of customer premise equipment to include: routers, channel banks, IP PBXs, CSU/DSU, switches, hubs, bridges, modems. Knowledgeable regarding Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, Avaya, Allworx and potentially other routers, firewalls, and IP PBXs. Some background with Class 4 / 5 network switches, including Lucent, Genband, and Nortel. Background in network administration, including network data stats reporting, SNMP, and network trouble-shooting techniques. Responsibilities will or may include but not limited to the following:
Provide direct support to the Sales Organization through pre-sales technical consulting complex solutions design and assisting with technical sales presentations to customers on all company voice & data circuit-based products.
Manage and track orders for assigned customer projects.
Serve as a customer escalation point for assigned projects.
Verifies the technical configuration is correct on circuit-based orders prior to them being submitted to Service Delivery for installation. Provide premier post-sales technical support by updating all relevant paperwork and systems (e.g. Visio, As-Built, VPN DB/VSR, OPW, M6, etc).
Creates new sales leads opportunities by establishing professional relationships with vendors in each of their supported markets.
Responsible for the mentoring and professional development of the SE II & I staff on their SE team.
Develop and deliver high quality customer technical presentations & demonstrations and preparing technical responses to RFPs are necessary
Primary contact for the customer on all service order and installation activities
Act as a technical resource for the sales teams
Must possess strong technical project management skills
Detailed understanding of all company departments and their roles in order process and installations
May be called upon to be the acting SE Manager at times for their team
Will serve as internal team escalation point and subject matter expert (SME) on technical process
Drives process and product improvement
Will oversee and serve as the HUB SE on our larger multi-location data network installations
Must fully understand sales paperwork process & procedures
Coordinate and lead the established implementation meeting scheduled after customer signature
Prepare order forms, viso network diagrams, and updated supporting databases to process/implement orders sold.
Work closely with the customer, their vendor(s) and internal PAETEC departments to ensure all aspects of cutover are coordinated, scheduled and ready for installation on the required due dates
May serve as technical project manager on more complex orders
Ensure that required CPE is ready for customer's installations
Coordinate and lead installation calls to ensure smooth transition of the customer to the PAETEC network
Prepared to work customer installations after hours on occasionally on weekends
Assist with trouble tickets and customer issues when needed / provide post installation support for 72 hours
Accurately document the customer's data network and technical requirements of services to be provided
Keys technical attributes of customer orders into appropriate order processing systems
Schedule and perform site surveys on required applications
Assist SE community as needed with coverage and workload
Manage assigned orders to ensure intervals and customer service
Provide status reports to higher management as needed
Some travel may be required
Other duties may be assigned
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree preferred
10+ years of telecommunications and/or sales engineering experience in either voice and/or data solutions for a CLEC ILEC IXC RBOC or ISP
Must have excellent oral & written communication skills.
Working knowledge of MetaSolv M6 and Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Visio
Cisco and Adtran hands-on router experience preferred. Additional Details
