The Company: Our client is a full-service ESP (eMarketing service provider). They build and support proprietary Internet-based software applications that help marketers communicate effectively with customers and prospects to increase brand recognition, sales, and customer relationships. Targeted market segments include catalog companies, ecommerce companies, Internet publishers, and not-for-profits. In addition, our client is a leader in search marketing, offering search engine optimization, paid search marketing, and a special article placement service.
The Opportunity: Our client is currently searching for a highly driven VP of Sales to oversee the sales efforts of this eMarketing service provider. This position is expected to have the skills necessary to lead and manage efforts of the Business Development staff, as well as interpret sales into corporate strategy.
Core Responsibilities
Directs and coordinates company sales functions by providing leadership for the day-to-day operations of the department while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals
Develops, coordinates and leads sales selling cycle and methodology, including analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs and results
Researches and develops strategies which identify marketing opportunities and new project development
Develops, maintains and improves business relations with clients of the company
Monitors marketplace and customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts
Manages support staff including scheduling and assigning work, reviewing performance, recommending salary increases, promotions, hiring and discharges of all business development staff
On boarding and training sales staff to continuously optimize for highest performance level
Responsible for monthly revenue forecasting and reporting as well as managing sales budgets
Provides guidance to other department members on procedures and policies
Responsible for optimization of sales and commission processes and structure
Required Skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, while motivating team to produce quality work
P&L responsibilities - The ability to establish, maintain and track department budgets
Ability to negotiate and close client prospects
Ability to interface and present with C-Level executives and board of directors
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to think critically and solve complex business issues
Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion
Highly organized
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
At least five years of related leadership experience in managing sales staff
Proven experience in having sales staff surpass goals and quotas
Proven experience in developing sales strategies, including presentation to executive management team and board of directors
Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts
Preferred experience in sales of technology or service companies
eMarketing or Interactive agency experience preferred
Compensation: Base salary in the $150K range with uncapped On Target Earnings in the $250K-$300K+ range.
