Engineering Student Exchange Programs Prepare Graduates for Global Marketplace

Posted by

Like to travel? Want to enrich your engineering education with exposure to studies in another country? Many colleges and universities offer exchange programs that can prepare you both culturally and professionally for the global engineering marketplace.

USC's Viterbi School of Engineering has agreements with several overseas universities that offer engineering students the opportunity to learn about other cultures while gaining a unique perspective on technology issues in foreign countries.

It's no secret that many of today's top technical companies are international enterprises with offices overseas. USC's Undergraduate International Exchange Program offers the ideal combination of core engineering curriculum and international exposure students need to prepare them for today's global engineering careers.

One such opportunity is USC's exchange program with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. This program sends engineering students to study in Hong Kong and invites Hong Kong students to study at USC. Situated on the southern tip of China and in the heart of Asia, Hong Kong exemplifies Chinese heritage stretching over thousands of years. Hong Kong's unique East-West perspective has created a cosmopolitan city with an energetic 24/7 lifestyle that totally immerses students in the Chinese culture.

A similar program takes students to Singapore, the country ranked second by the World Economic Forum in information technology competitiveness. Here, high technology is embraced and students learn the cultural influences and economic activity that drives this vibrant city.

Both single-semester programs are available to all qualifying undergraduate engineering students.
