One of the most powerful tools you can use to create your next job is visualization. This art of creating your future by seeing it in your mind before it has happened has been around since the beginning of time. Recently, it has become more popular by the news media and its mention of its use in professional sports.
Before you start discounting the value of visualization, you must realize you have already been doing a form of it most of your life. What I am referring to is worry. If you have ever worried about something bad that might happen, you have been using visualization. Unfortunately, you have been using it for the wrong reasons. When you use it to worry, you create unreal expectations of the worst things happening. The sad part about worry is that it is a total waste of time, and can create a myriad of health problems.
But, this article is about how to use visualization to get your next job, so, let us look at how we can do that. The first thing you need to do is write down your goal of getting your next job. Take some time to describe the kind of company and the kind of people you will be working with, the salary and benefits you will earn. Once you have it in the form you like, print out several copies of it about the size of a 3X5 card.
Post these copies any place you frequent on a regular basis. Post a copy on the mirror in your bathroom. Place another on the inside of a cupboard in the kitchen, another on your refrigerator door. The idea is to put them in places where you will see them almost everywhere you look. In my next article I will show you how to use them.
