Infosys to Hire 45,000 Engineers in 2011-12

If you’re a recent engineering grad or an out-of-work engineer looking for a job, things may be looking up for you. India's second largest IT giant Infosys plans to hire as many as 45,000 engineers worldwide in fiscal year 2011-12. This is 13,000 more than the company projected in April to meet the growing demand for engineers.

Infosys offers opportunities for a wide range of engineering disciplines. They provide business and technology consulting, application services, systems integration, product engineering, custom software development, maintenance, re-engineering, independent testing and validation services, IT infrastructure services and business process outsourcing.

The company pioneered the Global Delivery Model (GDM), which led to the rise of offshore outsourcing. GDM offers a commons sense economic solution that reduces risk, taking work to the geographic site that has the best talent.

Infosys is headquartered in India, but the company maintains a global presence with 65 offices and 63 development centers in the US, India, China, Australia, Japan, Middle East, UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Poland, Canada and many other countries. All told, Infosys and its subsidiaries had over 133,560 employees as on June 30, 2011.

Fortune magazine ranked Infosys 10th on its 'Top Companies for Leaders 2007' list. The survey evaluated 550 companies who "inspire, nurture and empower a new generation of global leaders." Fortune covered Infosys' 'Voice of Youth' program, which offers young employees the chance to participate in the management council and "debate, discuss, and critique" various aspects of business.
