    SUMMARY

    The Director of Corporate and Sponsorship Alliances leads the overarching strategy and expansion plans for MD Anderson's corporate campaigns and sponsored relationships in alignment with Philanthropy, the institutional Strategy and other teams in Cause Alliances. In collaboration with IA departments and other internal teams, the Director maximizes the institution's intent to advance the brand as a movement to end cancer. The position occupies a highly visible, external-facing leadership role and works collaboratively with executives, faculty, administrators, patients, donors and other stakeholder colleagues.

    The ideal candidate will have experience working with Brand Ambassadors, in developing and implementing relationships with influential people to bring awareness to a cause, as well as developing nationwide campaigns with corporations to generate awareness and raise funds by encouraging customers to make donations. Additionally, experience developing an employee-focused corporate campaign for employees to donate or participate in events that engage them in a cause movement, as well as experience creating and implementing retail partnerships to generate awareness and raise funds through events held by the retailer are also preferred.

    KEY FUNCTIONS

    Strategic direction and oversight.

    Creates, implements and measures an overarching strategy and expansion plans for MD Anderson's Corporate and Sponsorship Alliances in response to internal and external trends, ensuring alignment with Philanthropy and the institutional Strategy. In collaboration with Institutional Affairs departments and other internal teams, maximizes the institution's intent to advance the brand as a movement. Leads contract negotiations, brand ambassador selection and campaign/sponsorship measurement to ensure ongoing success and demonstrable ROI. Works with internal stakeholders and agencies to refine the current corporate and sponsorship portfolios, suggest new ideas, campaigns and tactics, and leverage opportunities for innovation. Collaborates with other leaders in Cause Alliances to ensure a comprehensive approach to relationship cultivation, including criteria for engagement. Oversees the development of pitch strategies for each new alliance. Oversees related materials, policies and procedures. Develops strong, positive relationships with Institutional Affairs and other stakeholders for message consistency, brand alignment and integration with other programs.

    Campaign/activation management

    Oversees concepting, development and execution of sponsorship activations and corporate campaigns. Ensures visuals and messaging align with overarching cause strategy, brand standards and institutional Strategy. Works closely with the Director of Community Alliances to ensure consistent creative and messaging is used across all efforts in Cause Alliances. Collaborates on integration of employee ambassadors for staffing. Oversees vendor relationships and associated finances. Works closely with Cause Alliances executive director to build sustainable and quantifiable relationships with third parties and brand ambassadors.

    Leadership and financial stewardship.

    Provides direction and management of Corporate and Sponsorship Alliances team, including the recruitment, direction and evaluation of staff, development of strategic plans, budget development and stewardship of financial resources. Prepares and negotiates annual budget. Approves expenditures and monitors financial reports; manages program expenses within assigned budget.

    Education

    Required : Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.

    Preferred : Master's degree in English, journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.

    Experience : Ten years of experience working in a communications program to include five years of supervisory/management experience. With preferred degree, eight years of required experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

    Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
