    Huntington Ingalls Industries - Mission Technologies (HII-MT) is seeking a Computer/Hardware technician with recent experience working with U.S. Navy, Part Task Trainer hardware and software applications in support of IC, Radar, VR, and Network trainers. The selected candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be capable of troubleshooting complex electronic devices to the board level, including replacement of defective parts, and a strong ability to read and understand schematics is required to support the U.S. Navy Surface Combat System Training Command (SCSTC) at Great Lakes Naval Station Illinois

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customer's organization.

    • Perform as onsite Subject Matter Expert for U.S. Navy Part Task Trainers, Network laboratory, and Visual Identification-Virtual Reality (VIDVR) systems.

    • Establish and maintain strong, positive rapport with GLKS schoolhouse and USN personnel.

    • Provide technical engineering support to ensure normal operations of all systems.

    • Perform Preventive Maintenance on all systems as required.

    • Coordinate and schedule troubleshooting times with U.S. Navy customer.

    • Track all issues to resolution.

    • Track and maintain spares inventories database.

    Minimum Qualifications

    5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

    • Strong ability to read, interpret, and follow mechanical and electrical schematics.

    • Experience with basic network configuration

    • Ability to work independently or as part of a larger professional team.

    • Strong organizational skills

    • All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements.

    • All candidates will be required to possess or obtain a Secret security clearance with a background investigation within the past five (5) years.

    Preferred Requirements

    The below are only a few of the preferred requirements that would be expected:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred, completion of high school or general education development (GED) is a minimum.

    • Self-Starter

    • Familiar and capable of configuring, networking, and installing of software on computers and laptops.

    • Familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Cameo is a plus.

    • Previous U.S. Navy training experience

    Physical Requirements

    May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level. May encounter extremes of temperature, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors while collecting data, observing performance of task teams.
