    Location and Division Specific Information:

    This is a remote-based position in the United States working for the Clinical Diagnostics Division (CDD) headquartered in Fremont, CA. There are 3 Sales Regions in CDD: West Region located in the PST/MST time zones, Central Region and East Region located in the CST or EST time zones. The preferred candidate will work within the boundaries of the time zone stated in the Job Description.

    How will you make an impact?

    This is an sales position that will require the development of sales and technical proficiency covering a portfolio of products in laboratory testing from Quality Controls, drugs of abuse, toxicology and related IT solutions. The candidate will be provided the opportunity to learn and develop skills vital to perform all job duties.

    This position is crafted to promote the development of the successful candidate who has achieved the academic requirements, may have practical laboratory experience and has demonstrated a sales ability to the position, but may lack sales experience in our industry.

    What will you do?

    PLAN PERFORMANCE & SALES SKILLS: Consistently achieve or exceed the territory sales plan by maintaining existing business, developing incremental business in existing accounts, and conducting cold calls to develop new accounts.

    Demonstrate use of selling skills via phone or in person, such as making good opening statements, connecting with the customer, establishing relationships, asking open-ended and high gain questions.

    ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION: Use Strategic Selling techniques within assigned accounts at all levels of the organization which influence purchasing decisions. Develop, write, and implement a business plan for handling assigned territory annually, updated quarterly. Provide solutions using our products & crafting a value proposition to close the deal!

    Develop presentations and customer proposals with assistance of support teams. Host & assist customer facing meetings & events (i.e. vendor shows, seminars etc.); be able to travel for quarterly customer visits.

    Maintain and increase current customer database through Thermo Fisher's customer relations management (CRM) software (Salesforce). Use system completely to fulfill management expectations for recording and using customer and sales information. Apply data sources to analyze and capitalize on territory opportunities with the greatest value.

    Communicate other vendor activities, trends, and changing customer development plans and priorities, to include emerging customers. Communicate account objectives and action plans to management via weekly calls, reports & other communication vehicles.

    SALES TRAINING: Participate in programs as presented by the company to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with the Thermo Fisher philosophy, policies and procedures.

    PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL COMPREHENSION: Understand and use product features, benefits and applications to successfully promote and complete the sale of products and services. Serve as a driver of business development at assigned customer call points to penetrate and grow current and new business.

    Provide product and other relevant information to customers via daily phone and email contact and quarterly field visits for all aspects of Thermo Fisher Scientific's business to generate sales.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in a Biology or science related field. Master's degree a plus.

    Experience

    • Laboratory experience preferred

    • Selling and/or customer contact experience desired

    • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or like programs required

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal & written communication & presentation skills.

    • Able to work with ease both independently and within a team.

    • Demonstrate a positive demeanor and desire to succeed with a consistent record of establishing goals and achieving results

    • Must possess the organizational skills to multi-task & work in a highly matrixed environment.

    • Exhibit a high degree of flexibility to adapt in a sales environment

    • Overnight travel may be required for customer visits, trainings & meetings.
