    Job Title : Merchant Sales Leader

    SUMMARY

    Responsible for achieving profitable growth through strategy development and effective team leadership. Designs and drives overall strategy of the sales team by directing the development of sales plans, strategies, objectives, compensation plans, policies and procedures conforming to corporate objectives. Responsible for driving new customer sales, account retention, and overall retail performance, including achievement of transaction volume, revenue, profit, expense and distribution targets. Creates, defines and implements short and long-term strategies and tactics for the organization to ensure delivery of quarterly and annual targets. This position works closely with Senior Sales Leaders to expand and grow business in the Direct & Agent segments in the US and Canada. Accountable for achieving sales goals and managing strategic activities to accomplish sales objectives, including management of the inside Sales Reps, Area Sales Execs and other business development personnel. Will maximize same store sales, reduce merchant attrition, and improve service quality. Attains objectives through efficient utilization of resources consistent with Business Unit and Corporate goals. Recruits, trains, and motivates to effectively lead winning team. Provides direction, prioritization, and development of plans designed to maximize attainment of objectives. The role is expected to drive the development of all merchant compensation programs and customer proposals, manage sales opportunities through pipeline to closure, and lead assigned personnel. Drives and supports strategic initiatives and implements go-to-market plans to flawlessly launch new products. Designs and assigns annual and quarterly performance quotas for team members, and develops customer compensation programs to meet evolving financial, customer and organizational requirements.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Includes the following, other duties may be assigned:

    • Generate new business sales, including competitive takeaways, and develop ongoing prospect pipeline and exceed assigned objectives.

    • Ensure customer retention by executing timely contract renewals for top customers, while maximizing margins.

    • Create winning business proposals and sponsor for approvals internally, using prescribed Finance models that satisfy all financial, strategic and ROI metrics.

    • Devise strategies and tactics to ensure flawlessly execution of new product launches.

    • Design customized incentive compensation plans that incent sales team members to exceed individual quotas and delivery of business unit objectives.

    • Create and implement winning go-to-market pricing and business strategies for all retail business segments and customer types; penetrate high opportunity classes of trade.

    • Partner with cross-functional colleagues to plan, execute and complete business roadmaps and marketplace execution plans.

    • Sponsor and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and drive sales team productivity.

    • Maximize same store sales, reduce merchant attrition and improve service quality.

    • Design and approve all customized customer proposals.

    • Develop strategy, driving brand awareness and improving retail presence in each market category.

    • Close mid-market and strategic sales to meet and exceed assigned quotas.

    • Achieve revenue targets through customer relationship management and attrition reduction.

    • Ensures proper usage of ~~~ and effective deployment of Lead program.

    • Report information on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required.

    • Coach, train and develop sales team and create talent development and succession plans.

    • Be a critical input to research ideas, compile market intelligence, and recommend strategies to win against competition.

    • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Operations to effectively deliver superior customer service and business-building initiatives.

    • Complete all other special project assignments on time and with precision and excellence.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

    • At least 10 years of proven success in a senior sales leadership role; ~~~ expertise

    • Bachelors degree or higher

    • Demonstrated people development experience

    • Ability to effectively communicate with internal resources, customers and external stake-holders.

    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously

    • Proven track record in a sales related role; leading remote sales teams a plus

    • Attention to detail, ability to multitask and lead a disciplined sales process while motivating others to do so at the same time

    • Possess a deep understanding of segment goals and strategies.

    • Possess a "Hunter" mentality with demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of an organization

    • Support of direction and leadership action and decisions

    • Willing to travel as needed to ensure team cohesion and key customer and prospect contact

    • Must be able to successfully pass all applicable background screening tests
