You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

About the Job
We're looking for an experienced senior cloud native software engineer for our engineering incubator team. You'll be part of a team of experienced engineers who are building a next-generation platform for the energy industry with a heavy focus on massive data volume processing.
Our new platform is built directly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) based on cloud native principles. We build to scale globally, leveraging state-of-the-art tooling, with zero downtime. As a senior software engineer, you'll be responsible for building world-class software, leveraging automation whenever possible, mixed with many opportunities to contribute to the definition of early stage products.

You are the builder here. You'll create software that's used by the world's largest utilities as well as other innovative companies in the energy space.

3+ years of hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud)
2+ years of experience building and delivering large scale, highly available distributed systems. This should include some experience with multi-tenant infrastructure.
Deep experience developing software with Python, Java, or Go. Experience with multiple languages is preferred.
Deep experience with continuous deployment tools.
Experience with data streams and event-based processing on any of the major cloud providers.
Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technology is a plus.
You have a strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
You've built rich tools and web apps for use by your team and other internal customers. You've made life easier for other developers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate and instrument properly to get the right data.
You are comfortable working at all levels of the technical stack.
You work backwards from the why. You care about creating reliable software that solves real problems.
You value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You understand that simple systems are easier to operate and fix.
